My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics Matte as Hell Crayon Lipstick 07 Viola:
Packaging:
Sugar Cosmetics Matte as Hell Crayon Lipstick has a slightly chubby, sharpenable pencil type packaging. The crayon stick is black coloured with a matte finish and color-coded end; just keep them upside down and colour-coded ends make it easy to pick up the desired shade. The crayon itself bears only shade name and no other detail. It has an outer cardboard packaging that house all the information. There is a sharpener also, which has been specially designed for these crayons.

Shade:
The shade Viola has been defined as “mauve nude” and I couldn’t agree more. It is a beautiful, flattering mauve-toned nude shade that looks adorable without washing out my complexion. I feel it will suit a variety of Indian skin tones. This shade is perfect for the workplace as well. If you are looking out for a comfortable shade for everyday looks, then this is it a good option to go for .

Pigmentation:
Well, crayon lipsticks from Sugar Cosmetics are insanely pigmented. With Viola, you get a uniform and intense color pays off with just one swipe. There is no pigment skipping. I have pigmented upper lip, but this crayon overshadows it. It hides lip pigmentation and shows off its very true color over the lips.

Overall, one gets opaque finish or full coverage in just a single swipe. On the top of that, the shade is easily buildable. If you want more intensity then just swipe it again over your lips. I go for 2-3 swipes whenever I want the colour to look a bit intense, and it does not crumble or feel heavy on the lips.
Texture/Fragrance:
The crayon lipstick in shade Viola has a rich-creamy texture that glides over the lips without any tugging or pulling. There is no crumbling even if I swipe it for 2-3 times. Despite being creamy, it eventually sets to a soft, velvety matte finish – the finish I very much adore. It looks very soft and natural. There is no sheen to the shade.

The formula of this crayon lipstick is very lightweight and feels very much comfortable on the lips. It has neither moisturizing nor drying formula, but it feels a bit drying after 4-5 hours of wear time. I wear it over a lip balm, though.
Also, if I wear this color without exfoliating my lips, it clings to the dry patches for sure. It is formulated without mineral oil, parabens, paraffin, phenoxyethanol, volatile cyclomethicones (D4, D5, and D6) and animal derived ingredients. The crayon does have a mild fragrance, which you will notice only if you sniff the product.
Staying Power:
I haven’t worn the shade for more than 6-7 hours and it stays there on the lips unless I have a meal. After having a complete meal, it fades from the centre of the lips. On top of that, I have a habit of licking the centre of my lips. It transfers very little but does not bleed or feather.

Overall:
Viola is a flattering shade that is perfect for daily wear. The texture, pigmentation and staying power – everything is top notch.
